The challenge

How can we further develop our existing product SIS—a Shipment Integrity Solution—into a (SaaS) platform, in co-creation with our customers? That was the challenge Imbema faced.

• Logistics security with the SIS IoT platform: Shipment Integrity Solution (SIS) is an IoT platform that provides logistics customers with crucial information needed to monitor and control security within their supply chain.
• Efficiency and quality: with advanced SIS technology, data can be collected from existing systems (such as transport planning, GPS, quality sensors, etc.) and verified against all shipment requirements. Work smarter and deliver quality. Work smart and deliver quality
• Data analysis for risk management: all these devices collect data that Imbema operators analyse to inform customers about potential risks, sabotage attempts, or other irregularities.
• Transition towards services: the development of services such as SIS fits within Imbema’s transition from a traditional trading company with products to a specialised service provider offering services. The guiding principle was the Industry 4.0 philosophy: equipping hardware assets with intelligent measurement systems and connecting them to a single platform—in this case, SIS.

The approach

Imbema’s goals and requirements were clear from the start. There was a need for a new product in the form of an intelligent platform, resulting in an improved and more comprehensive service. Given the strong focus on customer needs, we designed the entire platform and its features in co-creation with key customers.

Key elements of our approach included:

• Customer interviews
• Validating mock-ups with customers and optimising them based on feedback
• Use of promotional videos for sales purposes

• Delivery of a platform that enables customers to monitor various smart security solutions from a single central system.
• Implementation of organisational changes, including hiring the right people to ensure a successful platform launch.
• A proper handover, enabling Imbema to independently focus on scaling the new service. This included supporting and onboarding the new business unit manager.
